The WORD -
All of the modules listed here at DDT.com we consider to be “the cream of the crop” when it comes to eSword modules. You’ll find these Bible study modules will rightly exposit God’s Word and build your faith. Modules marked with ** are outstanding, and should be used by all students of God’s Word.
Modules marked with ^ are offsite links to files not made by our “Merry Little Band” of module builders. The editing, formatting, and general Quality Control may not be the best, but the content of the modules themselves will be rather excellent. We’re quite pleased to be able to link to these files for your convenience.
Modules listed in green are “premium” or “pay” modules. They are listed here because 1) I think they are of considerable value; and 2) your purchase of them through DDT gives us a small commission to offset site expenses. If you’ve like to help with a small gift, buy these premium modules through us, and it won’t cost you any extra.
For other sites dedicated to the distribution of free Bible study modules, go to the “Favorite Links” page.
Most of the Bible modules that you’ll want or need are available from eSword’s internal downloader or from the official theWord website.1 Examples: KJV, Greek Textus Receptus, Hebrew Old Tesament, etc. Besides those modules, let me also recommend these:
ENGLISH
Modern Spelling Tyndale Coverdale Bible TW
This is the text that was the forerunner to the modern day KJV -
HEBREW
^**Westminster Hebrew Morphology TW
This is a Hebrew Old Testament that is connected to a specialized Hebrew dictionary. It gives a complete parsing (and I mean complete) for every Hebrew word. But that’s just the start! This module allows for incredibly complex searches on the Hebrew words that is not possible with any other Hebrew text. If you want to do any textual work with the Hebrew Old Testament, then this is the text you’ll want. It is keyed to the Leningrad Codex. Tab name is “WHM”.
**Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia, ed. K. Elliger and W. Rudolph eS TW
NOTE: For those wanting a Hebrew OT with vowel points and Strong’s numbering, this is it. No English! Tab name is “BHS+”. In eSword, the vowel points are not searchable. TW’s “HiSB” (see below1) is a better option for theWord.
GREEK
None available at this time.
FOOTNOTES
1 While eS & TW often share similar/same module titles in other formats (dictionaries, commentaries & ebooks), their Bible formats are not the same at all. That’s because eSword has quite limited foreign language support, while theWord has excellent foreign language support. That simply means that TW can have (and does have) superior Greek & Hebrew modules. Also, TW incorporates Strong’s codes right into the main text of the Bibles, allowing them to be hid or shown based on the user’s preferences. So, I’m going to list my suggested Bibles for each software package.
